Tribute To Freddie Mercury (5 Sept 1946 – 24 Nov 1991)

Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Balsara) was the lead singer of the famous rock band Queen. Born on 5th September 1946, he would have turned 71 had he not been taken by the AIDS virus in 1991.

Mercury is regarded as one of the true greats of rock music – a songwriter and piano player par excellence. His unique voice could glide effortlessly through low and high notes and he sang with a passion and intensity which seemed to pierce the soul. He lived his life with the same passion and was one of the most loved musicians in the world.

His final demise brought awareness to the AIDs virus which was still a new phenomenon in the world.
