Purvottar Ke Sitare is one of our flagship programmes, in which every week we will introduce you to someone special, who has worked tirelessly for the betterment of India’s northeastern region or achieved something significant as an individual.
In the latest episode, our Editor-in-Chief Sanjeev Srivastava introduces you to Temsula Ao and Rashmi Narzary. Both are recipients of the prestigious ‘Sahitya Akademi Award’ for their outstanding work. Dr Temsula Ao is undoubtedly one of the country’s finest writers. She has delineated the agonies and aspirations of her own people – the Nagas – with deep understanding and compassion in her fictional work.
Rashmi Narzary received the Sahitya Akademi Bal Puraskar 2016 for her children’s book, His Share Of Sky (Leadstart Publishing). In addition to this, both her first book, Wings (2005), and her new collection of short stories, Mosaic (2016) were for adults. Mosaic, a collection of 20 short stories based mostly in the North-East, was an entry at the Mumbai Film Fest’s “Word To Screen” category in 2016.
