Rajeev Deshpande writes in The Times of India the shift from labelling PM Narendra Modi as “Hitler”, the usual epithet used to signify rightwing ultra-nationalism, to describing him as the modern avatar of communist dictators is interesting. With “Hitler” losing shock value and monikers like “Tughlak” seeming mild and inadequate, the savagery of Mao’s experiments and brutalities of the Khmer Rouge regime seem a more satisfying comparison.
